Power Supply Dell Studio XPS

Got another question for anybody who would know.

I bought a dell Studio XPS, (core i7, etc,) but know that they only have a 360W power supply in it. Therefore, i am planning buy a new one and put it in. The computer is on order, and i would like all the parts to be here at the same time, so i would like to order the power supply as soon as i can. The one i am looking at has dimensions of 150 x 86 x 140mm (W x H x D). Would this fit into the Studio XPS?

I think the Dell cases are goofy sized. My buddy bought an aftermarket
psu and there was a gap on one side when he installed it.

He wanted to give me his old one and it wouldn't fit in my case...too wide.

I'm not a big fan of Dell.

Most of Dell's systems have proprietary PSU's in them meaning, like Bodaggit mentioned, the fit of a replacement PSU would most definitely be off or just not fit at all. I did however manage to get out of a sales rep for Dell that your XPS system uses the ATX standard so you shouldn't have any problems replacing the PSU. Unless they just lied to me, trying to make a sale. Stupid Dell!

if it is the stock power supply and your not planning on sticking another video card in the machine or anything, then i would just leave the current PSU alone in there.

I have had an XPS 400 for years now...while I was waiting for my parts to arrive for my current build, I ran my Antec 650w in it just fine. It fit like a glove in the XPS 400. I am pretty sure you will not have a problem.

Okay, big sigh of relief. I already had the vidoe card on order, and was crossing my fingers that i would be able to put in a bigger psu.

Thanks for the quick replys!

I had just replaced my PSU last january this year my computer DELL 5150 corsair PSU is great to fit in no problem at all with longer connectors . Only rebate takes a long time to get but finally i got it yesterday. I recommend CORSAIR PSU.
