Power Supply Help Plz.

the specs look okay, but it's an off brand.

when it comes to PSU's you want to get one from a quality brand (corsair, OCZ, antec, rosewell, etc.)

what wattage are you looking for? i'll reccomend a good one for you.

yea its better to get a known brand.

Yeah, I'm not sure about A-Power. I would also recommend Corsair, OCZ or Antec. But...Rosewill? Isn't that kind of like buying an RCA TV these days?

I've had nothing but Rosewill since 2000, never had a single one fail, and ALL of my customer builds (8) have run off Rosewill, from a 450w to 850w, and I've never had to replace any of them (I give a 1 year warranty incase of "dormant DOA".)

Thank you for your input. I had considered Rosewill kind of an off-brand itself. I have had some of their other equipment but never one of their PSUs. I am open to giving those a shot.

I will defer to your experience with them. :):good:

I've had nothing but Rosewill since 2000,

So you have been buying them since you were 8 years old?

They havent even been around since 2000. They are a Newegg/ABS house brand. Newegg wasnt even founded till 2001. Rosewill was founded in 2004!

Talk about B/S.

Huh...a little research can go a long way.

Perhaps those posts came from the future. Who knows, Rosewill could improve in the next four years. :P

Are you sure? I HAVE built from when I was about 8-9 years old, repairing family comps, etc. Maybe I'm thinking of another brand back then? I'm not sure, it was on off brand with an 'R'. Nonetheless, ALL of my customer builds have had Rosewill PSUs, the first of which was 2006.
Don't let my stupidity damper your decision on their reliability.

EDIT: Raidmax maybe? Not sure.

Its not that uncommon to be working with pc's at such a young age... i built my first pc when i was about 8(with a little help though), and i have been fixing family's pc's and stuff since about that age too. Plus the rosewill psu's are solid budget power supplies, effeciency can be somewhat lacking(some are as low as 60%), but overall they are still great power supplies on a budget.

Well said. I was soldering and de-soldering CPUs and other ICs on motherboards around that age (a little older), also with some guidance. That was quite fun. Roasted my fair share of silicon in the learning process... I It isn't uncommon at all. :)

The efficiency factor is what I have noticed in my researching. Even the same models can vary quite a bit. It was this lack of quality control/consistency that turned me away from them. As I said earlier, I haven't used them, but I usually don't try to save money on a PSU either if a more established and proven brand is out there.

What have you seen as far as life expectancy?

This is the part that was impossible.

He has already acknowledged that mistake. There is no need to re-affirm your point and/or rub it in. We understand the impossibility. It has been rectified.

bomberboysk was commenting on the fact that it was possible to be working
on pc's at a younger age, and the impossibility that was pointed out was the manufacturer info, not the age.

I was clarifying, not "rubbing it in".

I've got three kids, the youngest one is 23. They all have worked on computers because i got them into it. Plus at a young age. That has nothing to do with it. They were not out buying Power Supplies at age (8). And sure not working on mine at that age.

If someone comes out taking up for a brand name, laying out (all) the experience they have with it and the info. is bogas, call it what you like. Then comes back with a post about ( OH NO, I just stuck my foot in my mouth) It must have been Raidmax, like that is a quality Power Supply either. Then talks about the 6 builds they have done. Doesnt even know what brand now, thats experience for you. Read it like you want, I call it B/S

Call it what you want. Not like Raidmax or Rosewill are anywhere near similar to eachother in branding, colors, or marketing.
My first build was an AMD K6 with 128mb PC133 ram. My second was AMD XP 2600+ T'bred B, then AMD 4400+, 5000+ BE, 5400+ BE, and Phenom 7750. All of these builds used, what I thought to be Rosewill. The K6 may not have been - as I've said, I had to be around 8-9 when I put it together. The first PSU I ordered, in 2000, for an eMachines that crapped out. It was 300w, and though I know now it's not, thought to be Rosewill. I still have the reciepts for all of my builds, save for the K6 and XP2600+, and they are all Rosewill. ALL of my customer builds as of the last 3 years I've been doing them, are Rosewill.
It was an honest mistake, I apologized for whatever mixup it may have caused, and I honestly don't need you as my shadow on here. ALL inaccuracies aside, Rosewill has, in my experiences of a million computers and dating from my abacus to my current rig, been just fine. I've NEVER had one fail on me, and they sell for considerably less given their lack of a logo. If you want to act like a dick over such a trivial manner, be my guest, but this is the last post I'll have in this thread.

Rosewill = Diewill

Rosewill are made from many different chineese manufacturers with different specs. Rosewill is a brand, they get several makers and badge them. Poor quality, poor efficiency, poor choice.

That PSU (A Power) is even worse.
