power supply problem

how long into the games???

is it 5 minutes in, 2 minutes, as soon as you start, half an hour???

How is the ventilation in your case? do you have any fans?

see, if the CPU would be overheating, it would shut down within seconds cause it take very little time for a CPU to reach max temps. Unless you dont have alot of ventilation, and the temps inside the case just rise.

I would say, check that your CPU cooler is mounted ok, but dont pull it off. just push back any pin that came out. Then, make sure you have at least one exhast fan, and one intake fan. Then, also get some compressed air, and clean your computer of any dust.

if that doesnt help, then i would say that it could be your PSU, but i doubt it, cause that can deliver good amount of power. unless you have a faulty PSU.

Do you smell any Burnt Electrical smell?

What are the specs of your PC? What CPU, GFX card, how many hard drive do you have

Yes it is. i had the same problem with mine. i was able to play for about 5 maybe 10 mins. 30 mins on low settings. but i have upgraded my psu, and its fine. play withonboard graphics and it wont shut down, trust me.

It could very well be over-heating. It may not even be the CPU, but actually the GPU.

As stated, post your specs and we'll try to help.

i got 2 fans on the case the space i put my whole comp is pretty small but it have eough space for air to flow out n in

i dont smell any burnt electrical or anything i using Intel core 2 quad Q8200 2.33 GHz my grapich card is XFX GeForce 9800 GT 512MB PCIe w/Dual Link DVI

i only use one HDD

my CPU do go up to as high as 98% idk if that normal just from one game
if my CPU was overheating wont i get a message saying it is?

No, if the cpu or gpu is overheating you are not going to get any messages. I suggest realtemp to check temperature on the cpu and either EVGA precision or rivatuner to check GPU temperature.

Definately a powersupply problem. i had the same issue with my a-power 680w (junk). would shut off 30 mins into crysis, 2 hours into far cry 2 and sometimes not at all in other games. as soon as i changed out the PSU, problem solveed.

You have an OCZ, not a cheap unit. they are reliable but your one might be a dud or you have too much stuff in yor system (system specs please!)

Nevertheless, try changing the powersupply with a friends before you buy a new one.

Your PSU might not be dead/dying either, you might just be overloading it. glad you got a good unit, otherwise most of your system would be up in smoke with a cheapy.

too much stuff in my system you mean the hardware in my case? or the software i running? if the hardware not much i only got PSU,MOBO,1 HDD,1 DVD DRIVE etc. if is application then i run pretty alot i use up like 2.30GB of ram just from starting up my comp if i use my daliy stuff it will be like 2.86GB+

well i guess i just have to get a new PSU what would be a good one some game i play r pretty big like assassin creed and need for speed shift

Anything with blue flashy lights, gives it away. Its amazing how young fellas are attracted to such things, a bit like a mosquito. ;)

What you have there is a low quality ATX designed unit, and due to CPU dedicated 12V+1, that system can really only provide about 26A on the 12V rail (a laughable 312W out of 432W). Poop!

Compare that with a 450W Corsair PSU for example that has 250W less, but 7A MORE on the 12V rail. Clearly that OCZ is rubbish. Having said that, if your system is mid-low spec, you may be ok.

To find out, download PC Wizard and install it (in my sig). Go to FILE< SAVE AS and click OK> Save that text file and copy its contents into this thread please.

If you currently live in the southern hemisphere, you are probably experiencing a combined effect of heat and poor quality PSU - thus the shutdowns.

Listen if the computer turns off without warning when you play games it may be overheating but as soon as it turns off feel the GPU, CPU, and even memory and bios. they may not be hot just warm.

I think what you could do is disconnect all your fancy features such as extra drives or lights and cd rom drives, shutting down unwanted services could help but i think the GPU is not getting enogh power? also check if the power is being supplied on seperate rails instead of just one.

How hot is your computer? are the fans running at full RPM?

I dunno what else to suggest apart from check if any of the hardware is faulty? but thats what my dad suggests lol

Well mate, if you put the 850 in there, than you need to benchtest your system. I would insert your Windows 7 DVD and use their memory tester first.

Are you overclocking?

Also check you have latest drivers for everything.
