Power Supply Question!!!!!

I don't even run the Radeon X1300 Pro here without at least a 480w supply. And thats not even a gaming model card there. Where cpu are more energy efficient by running at lower voltages the boards and especially video cards, SLI and the like, are more power hungry when loaded. For gaming and OCing you have to have that extra to compensate.
Every Dell I run across has other then the standard holes. You could take a standard supply for an atx case and hold it up to a Dell supply to see the difference right away. If you couldn't you would need to get your eyes examined real fast.
I got one sittin right here that I put a standard P/S in. all the ones had the same hole pattern, now Dell used to use proprietary P/S but that didnt have anything to do with the screw pattern!
You probably haven't seen enough of the older style Dell cases yet. Wait until you try replacing a supply on an old Dell at not atx case. You'll start pulling hair out! "why is there an lL shaped screw pattern...

i recently bought 2 dells. One was xps.
Dell's powersupplies are purposely underrated.
If it is 375W, it is more like 460W or 470W.
They purposely do that because they do not want you to buy graphic cards that are not from them. Trust me, it works.
However, i do recammend you to get a better PSU. Dell's PSU are cheap brands.

x1300pro on 480watts? I think that's bit of an overkill there...
My neighbor runs 6200 agp on a dell 250watt psu. I've ran x850pro on a 300watt psu. My friend is running 6800ultra on 350watt generic psu.
As for the powersupply question, just take a look at your xps case. Chances are it uses atx powersupplies. If not, then just buy from the pcpowercooling site.

Why would I want to fool with a old AT dell case?
Overkill? What do you think will happen when the Antec TP II 550w supply goes in when the SATA array is setup? zzzzzz... boom! puf... puf

Dell PSU's are rather cheap,.. I have a similair kind of PSU in my case. Good prevent themselves from overloading, cheaper PSU's usually dont.
When i run 3DMark06 on my pc, and i overclock my grafic's cards a bit.. the PSU starts to smell halfway, because im draining more power than it actually can handle,.. but it doesnt restart or so (the pc). I gues its the same with the Dell PSU's.

Hhhmmm.... I see they're still pulling the old proprietary routine even on the lastest stuff.
