Power supply Working??

On my HP 530sff the led on the front and on the sys board are on, but when I press the start button nothing happens. My question is, would these still light with a bad power supply. Again, I try to start and Nothing happens, no fan ,no boot , nothing Thanks to all

Do you have it in power saver mode? Not all systems do well with this and I for one turned off this feature due to aggravation with "sleep" mode. When I put my computer to sleep...I couldn't wake it up! The lights would all be lit but nothing would happen.

I held the power button in for >4 seconds until it rebooted, went to the control panel and turned of the "sleep" mode. For me, problem solved!:good:

No, Holding the power button will not start it.

Sounds like the power supply is dead. The fans should spin up, even if it's a software problem like if the OS doesn't boot.

Could be the motherboard too. Try shorting the 'good signal' pins for the psu to check that.
