I am planning to build a computer and some guy is selling this to me for 50 dollars, I can bargain to 40 but was wondering if you guys know about this PSU. Would it be good? What does it mean by 750W btw, does it mean it it will provide me with UP TO 750W? or will it waste electricity if I don't use it.

The person selling it said he used this for gaming and it wasn't enough for him.

Silverstone are excellent PSUs. Are you using it on the computer in your signature? If so, yes, it would be overpowered, but as far as I know, it won't waste electricity. It's probably a helluva lot better than your stock PSU. Just make sure there's nothing wrong with the unit because that is a low price for it.

What do you mean by signature? I'm planning to build a budget build. (Page 2 of Desktop Computers forum thing) The seller said there is nothing wrong with it, just that he needed more W's. I don't think I'd be using the 750w but it may save me for future upgrades as I am going to put more ram, maybe a better CPU and SLI.

The HP Pavilion a6120n you have in your signature, but nevermind since it's not gonna be that system. I saw the thread and this is a good PSU, assuming everything is right with it. I would go for it, that's a nice price for a silverstone.

Okay thanks for the feedback, I'm gonna try bargaining to 40 dollars which is still good right? I researched this product and on newegg it's deactivated and out of stock. I plan to get another 9800GT GPU for SLI, hopefully things go well.

If I don't get all my parts, I'll probably end up saving it till I do, also am I able to replace my PSU on my computer if I get it?

On my HP Pavilion.

claptonman, this is sort of urgent because I'm planning to get the PSU soon.
am I able to replace my stock PSU for this?

No performance difference, but it will last longer. If you're building a new computer, I would save the PSU for that.

I will use it on my HP machine as I will slowly get my parts, once i do I will remove the parts I bought from the HP machine and sell it..
As my stock mobo has 24 pins but it's connected with a 20, it will still work right?
