How do you know if the power supply is to small. I have every thing set up and when I power it up it shuts down about 15 seconds after. Is this the power supply?

It helps if we have the specs on the power supply. also a little bit more on your computer too. I see and mother board and cpu and HDD but any video cards or add ons?

ok. Im using a stock power supply, I have a cd burner/dvd burner, coolermaster ci5-9hdpa-0l cpu fan that runs at 12vdc and shikatronix 512 pc3200 ddr ram .

Did you try reseating things like the CPU and RAM? Also any big video cards or stuff like that? What is a "stock power supply"? Is your compuer custom made or is it made by dell or HP some thing like that.

If it boots at all, then everything is plugged in correctly.

computer is custom built but the power supply is only a 250 watt or less. I'm not sue exactly what it is.

Well I sure hope it isn't 1.5A. But the amperage that we are looking for is on the 12V line, there are multiple listings.

if its a generic psu that doesn't specify amperage it is probably pretty damned weak. But the setup doesn't sound to intensive.
