Power switch and nothing.. Can u help

Putting together a build of old components for someone that doesn't have a pc and I have run into a problem. I had to purchase a new case for the build a Coolermaster rc371, after chucking all the hardware in the case and plugging it in I press the power button and nothing happens. I can see there is power in the mb as the green power light on the mb comes on an I have triple checked the connections but I get nothing from the switch. Could I have a dodgy case or could there be a deeper problem with the mb?

Mb is an old Asus P5Q
 
Take the front face off the case, it could be that the power switch cable has broken at the button end, I have had that before it can make it look like a big problem when actually it is just a case connection.

You could also use a motherboard switch test kit.
