Powering on for first time

Hey guys,

I have my new build 99% put together. Tonight I just need to move a couple wires around and I'm ready to retry. Does anyone know of a nice "first time powering" video or a troubleshoot vid? I'm anticipating issues bc its my first time. Thanks!

Congrats! I don't know of an issue, but the most dreaded is that once you turn everything on it fires up for a second or two then immediately shuts down. Usually it involves rechecking all the components and cables, usually by removing them and putting them back in. If it doesn't work it's usually either a memory or power supply problem, in which case you can remove all the memory and only insert one stick at a time until you can pin down if one of the modules is causing a problem.

Take a look at some of the steps in my guide http://www.computerforum.com/209946-tech-guide-diagnosing-pc-will-not-post-start.html try as many of those steps as you can if the PC does not boot or POST successfully the first time you press the power button.

Usually if it doesn't work the first time it's because you forgot to plug the power switch connector into the board or the power supply is switched off at the back.
