PowerPC processor swap/thermal paste?

Hi everyone!
Last night I finished a processor swap on my Powermac G4 (Quicksilver) and everything is working flawlessly. The only concern I have now is that when doing the processor swap I had to remove the heat sink from the processor. I did not notice any thermal paste on the heat sink or processor, so I did not add any when reassembling. Should I be concerned with this? Do I need to tear it apart again and add thermal paste? I’m not even sure if that kind of processor needs it? (PowerPC) I have had the machine on for around an hour and have had no problems.
Thanks again for the help!

* the processor installed is a dual 1 ghz
