powerpoint viewer

When I go to open files with a .pps ending I get a message that No program is associated with this file and I should go to Set Associations in Control Panel and make an association. When I go there I find that Powerpoint Viewer is already set. I have tried changing it to something else and then changing it back but that does not work. I have updated PowerPoint Viewer with no improvement. What can I do? If I save the file and then open it in PowerPoint it runs but this is invonvenient to do with every file.

When you right click on the file and select "Open With", are you sure that you select PP Viewer and have it set to "always do this for this file type"?

I don't know of any right clicking but when I go to Change program it shows PowerPoint Viewer with the correct icon and the box at the bottom is checked thst says to always open with this program.

First off, are you using a Mac or a Windows computer? I'm assuming a Windows machine from your first post, and if so then right click the mouse on the .pps file, and then go to "Open With". If it's a Mac then CTRL+Click and then click "Get Info", and change the default program.

I'm using Windows but I'm using Vista whcih has changed everything. Right clicking does nothing. "Change program" is the method.
