powersupply box blowing out funny smell

what is wrong? i jus got this new powersupply box and its blowing out funny smell(jus like the old one)the air is hot too, is this normal?

Well it's normal for the air to be hot. But can you elaborate a bit more on the smell? It's going to smell like electricity (obviously), and it sounds like you are just getting that mixed up with the smell of something actually burning.

It's the small of it being new

Aye, when a PSU is new it has a lot of stuff inside it that smells, if it's the smell of acrid plastic or burning then you have a problem. Otherwise you'll be fine, my new Corsair PSU smelt very strongly of new plastic.

Yeah, it's a smell that'll disappear though as the smell of the air being circulated through will overpower it. And congrats on the random rank Dan!

Although thats true, he said it's the same smell that was given off by his previous PSU, which is what led me to believe that it's just the smell of electricity and electronics.
