I bought a powmax bio II case just a while ago (still doesnt arrive), and i have been reading numerous reviews about the power supplies burning out on most of the powmax case PWS, should I worry about this? the case supposively comes with a 450 watt PWS,
My hardware components include, a dvd burner, a cd burner, 1.5 GHz p4
Nvidia Gforce 5500 128 MB card, 2 hard drives (20+ 160 gig 7200rpm) and 4 connected accessories through usb. (xbox 360 controller for WXP, printer, webcam, mouse)
I currently have a 160 Watt power supply(heheh...) I had to disconnect the cd burner and the 20 gig hd for it to work properly, i think the power supply can take these if its actually overrated, unless they come defected..
help?

the powersuplies that come with cases are usually crap. but that one might power that system. i would look into getting a new powersupply.

that is kinda why I got the case, the 450 watt psu, now to learn that it is crap... lol, ill look for a nicer psu. but, is there any chance that it might blow and destroy any/all of my components?

just try it out first, it might be just fine theres no need to worry. and if it does fail you still have an old PSU to fall back on untill you can get a new PSU.
is there any chance that it might blow and destroy any/all of my components?
with any PSU thier is always a chance for that too happen. but its really rare.

k.. thanks, i just hope this thing doesnt blow on me, taking my components to hell with it.. my computer is crappy anyways, Im looking forward to buying a nice one this summer.

Athlon64 X2 4200+ Manchester << how much is it? and, would it perform better than a P4 3.8 GHz(HT 600 series) processor?

oh also your going to need a new mobo if you do get it.
looks uderrated? how so? b/c of the lower ghz? if so, ghz isnt everything. read cpu 101.

Actually, the powmax PSUs often fail catastrophically, taking your components to the 'great big junkyard in the sky' with them. Get a 330w Seasonic, that will be enough.

Thermaltake PSUs are generally not the best. Take a look at PSU101 for some recommendations.

well yeah its got nearly 300 reviews, probably 250 of which are positive, and 5 out of 5 stars from over 600 people, and thats just from that one site. So yeah youre right Im sure its crap.
