My range is 800ish and I was here a few months ago and was going to build one but cannot build one and I'd rather not attempt and somehow mess it up and my dad agrees with this and wants to get a Pre-built one

was the previous thread.

All I need is a computer that can play battlefield 3 and I won't need to update for a while. Also looking for around a terrabyte of data. All help is appreciated. thanks

prebuilt its not going to happen.
besides, we have yet to receive the system requirements for BF3. Its definately going to be more than BF BC2, and that takes a fair bit to play.
If you get prebuilt, you are looking at around 1200 of computer, more if you need a monitor.

It could be done if you build it yourself.

I was looking at Alienware computers for that. Any uh... opinions.

Was willing to pay the 2000. Probably wouldn't need a new one for a few years eh?

Alienwares are hugely overpriced. Watch a video of someone putting together a PC. This is what convinced me that building my own would be easy enough.

I'm also slightly confused, you say your budget is $800, then suggest an alienware for $2000. If building your own really isn't an option, give your budget and the people here will find the best value for you, as Wolfeking said, at $800 you will struggle to find a computer to run BF3 well. At the same time this is only peoples educated guesses on the requirements of BF3

Well I just discussed with my parents and need a laptop for college next year, and buying a desktop and laptop separately won't be a good idea. I was looking at the alienware laptops as an alternative.

Any good gaming laptops?

edit: should probably move to laptop sections
