well i was playing a game called knight online one day, and for a sec, it stopped and froze to load and the next thing that came up was a blue screen. after that my windows wouldnt load in so i had to reinstall it.

even though i reinstalled it, it still sometimes comes up so i have to reinstall again.

so when im either playing or installing sometin after i reinstalled windows, out of nowhere it restarts and then it takes really long for the windows xp screen to load or doesnt load at all.

i DO have antivirus. kasepersky to be excact.

why is it doing this???

After an error happens again right after reboot do the following:

Open "Control Panel"
Open "Administrative Tools"
Open "Event Viewer"

I do believe you want to look for red icons in the Event Viewer that contain error code messages. Post those in the forum.

then also sometimes the computer freezes and i end up having to shut off power, and when i restart it, it stays in the microsoft windows xp loading screen, doesnt load, so i restart again and a error pops up, disk read occur occurered. press ctrl alt delete to restart

pls help guys, its a really serious prob for me.. i cant even turn on my computer, it always keeps on saying "disk error read" when loading up, and when its loading windows xp, blue screen comes up and just restarts computer.

remember i reformatted lik 4 times already

Sounds to me like your hard drive has gone bad. Is your computer under warranty?

You may have to buy a new hard drive. They aren't that expensive. Do you have a Windows XP installation disk? Any opinions from others?

yea i do format, and everything installs correctly, powers up, i can install stuff, then lik a lil later it kind of freezes, and when i go to restart, it wont power up or get through loading screen. then maybe i try the next day ti turn it on, it works

Your CPU or memory is not overclocked???

so any sata hard drive would work for me?

Almost. If you are using a desktop, you need a 3.5 inch SATA drive. If you are using a laptop, you need a 2.5 inch SATA drive. The sizing is very different, and so are the connectors. Just make sure you pick the right one. Apart from that, everything should be fine.

but how do i know its not a ram prob?

idk why it can be ram cas i bought new ones lik 4 months ago.

is tehre any tests i can run?

Download and create a MEMTEST 86 disk. You can get it here (instructions should be included).

http://www.memtest86.com/memtest86-3.4a.iso.zip

MemTest runs a scan of your RAM installed in your computer. You download it, unzip it (right click, extract all) then use Nero, PowerISO or some other CD/DVD burning software to put it on a disk. Slap the disk in, tell it to open and run the scan.

If you need more help. post back.

EDIT: If it is quite new and is faulty, take a picture of the screen (or write down errors/codes given and send the RAM back for warranty replacement. It might only be one faulty module, but you'll have to find this out one by one. Also, check to make sure none of the sticks have "popped out" or come unclipped.
