Pentium® 4 Processor 640 with HT Technology (3.20GHz, 800 FSB)
and between this one 50bux diffrence
Pentium® D Processor 830 with Dual Core Technology (3GHz, 800FSB)

Common people lets get serious, it all fine telling someone else to go spending there cash, but did you even bother to ask what it was to be used for???
Of what the price differnece he was seeing is????

Anyway i think that preator recently updated cpu101 to include a section of choosing between dual core and single and the price performance trade off.

Duel core for sure, no question about it. multitasking or not, it is a much better investment
I put this lightheartedly but
Think........ then speak :)

deffinetly, you can also tell my the numbers that intel uses now, the higher the number, the better the processor.

think about it... u have 2 CPUs (i know its cores but w/e) running at 3 ghz... dont u think it would make up for the .3 ghx from a single cpu...

you won't really notice the .2 ghz with or without dual core. And it really depends on what you're doing with the computer. YOu won't really notice much difference unless you multitask alot.
