Price Drop

I have a simple question. Where would I be able to find information about a possible price drop in Core i7 CPUs, motherboards, DDR3 RAM etc. I have a possibility of building a desktop this summer (my winter build failed on lack of investments) and I was wondering whether or not these parts would either drop in price, or perhaps cheaper models would debut between now and May or June. Am I jumping the gun too quickly here, as these parts are only a few months old? What do you guys think?
 
The new Intel i7 processors are power hungry beasts. I am hoping Intel refines their i7 processors to consume less power in the near future. They are 130 and 140 Watt processors currently. They will likely bring it down to 95 Watt or lower in the future.

I would wait on the i7 processors until the technology is refined. You will in no way be disappointed with the performance of the Intel Socket LGA775 processors.

Take a look at the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 (2.83 gigahertz) processor for $283. If that is too expensive look at the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale (3.0 gigahertz) processor for $165.
 
I agree that the LGA775 procs. are quite speedy. However, when I formally enter the market (hopefully) this summer I wonder if prices will have dropped or perhaps different variants have came out by then.
 
Even if the new Intel i7 processor technology is refined and they start producing 95 Watt i7 processors it will still be expensive as it is Intel's latest product and top of line. In my opinion prices won't drop much for a year or maybe longer with the i7.

The Socket LGA775 Quads are going to be around for quite some time as they are great processors. Getting the latest and greatest hardware isn't wise in my opinion because it is over priced. Then you are likely to be disappointed after you purchase it because you see the price of what you bought fall 50% within two years.
 
well i dont know if the sale is still going on but about a week ago i bought an i7 920 for 229.99. the store is microcenter.

only problem was that i had to go and pick it up. no delivery.

other than that there might be very slight drops but nothing big.

Oh, dont know if i thanked you yet phantom. for putting me in the know about that microcenters i7 920. That is where i got mine.
