AMD dual core processors are lowerd in price today, most notably the 4400 has been lowered by 30 dollars. does this mean anything important?

It just means that as something gets older, the lower its value becomes, just like everything electronic.

Exactly, as items get older and newer things arrive (especially electronics), the prices get lower. Its been like that forever.

understood but do you think this is because of the AM2 or a different CPU altogether, say the 5000+.
It would make since that they cant sell the same technology for the same price for years, even if newer technology isnt out yet, it will still get cheaper.

Plus it also helps that they have been producing it for awhile now, so they can produce more of them at a lower cost, and a lower rate of faulty hardware.

athlon 64 X2 FX-60. im not sure if they include the X2... but its dual core either way. 2.6ghz two cores, fastest dual core there is. thats two athlon 64 FX-55 cores on one chip!
thats some fast processing right there... if only i were rich lol

also, the lower may be because of intels 65nm pentium d's reaching 3.46ghz above the old top 3.2ghz pentium d chips.

or people are buying the 3800 x2 or intel d because its the cheapest and if the 4400 drops people may start to think if i payed a bit more money i could get the best proformance possible
