Print Spooler

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate

When I start my computer I get an error saying:

"spooler subsystem app stopped working and was closed"

I have went into services and have restarted it and that last for about 30 seconds before the error message pops up again. If the print spooler is not working I will not be able to print. I need to get this problem rectified any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
thanks for the help, ive been having this problem for a while now but it hasnt ever really been a problem because i didn't have printer hooked up...now that i got a printer i need to figure out why it is not working.
