printer communication error

my aunts computer is having printer problems. it keeps saying, "unable to communicate with printer, verify lpt is connected" but everything is connected, it was working yesterday but now its not. anyone know what the problem is. she has an emachines computer and an hp laser printer

If it says LPT, then it isn't USB.

Uninstall and reinstall the printer. Oh, if it’s just 820.11b then I’m not interested

i asked if it was usb because i thought maybe it was screwed up and the computer thought it was parallel when it's not, there for it would never find it on LTP port which means you'd need to tell it to look elsewhere.

If it was installed correctly, then it won't do that. With the exception of some crazy strange virus...

well, obviously something wasn't done properly or it'd work, which is why i asked if it was usb to determin if in fact it was installed properly or not.

okay i got it, we unistalled the lpt driver and let it reinstall after start up and it seems to be working. thanks. its i dont think it would be a virus cause i reinstalled her windows and everything. i think it may just be the mobo from old age cause its kinda old.
