Printer functionality disabled - Windows Vista

Hello,

My computer run on Windows Vista and I've been unable to print anything for about 1 month.

It is not a printer-related issue because I have made tests with several printers (Epson Stylus Color 860 and Lexmark 2600) and it failed all the time. Moreover, virtual printer software like PDFCreator and CutePDF doesn't work either.

It may not be a software-related issue as printing always fails whatever the source software is (Word 2007, TextPad 4, Notepad, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.).

As I said before, printing used to work some weeks ago, as well as virtual printing with PDFCreator. I may have made an insecure operation like disabling a critical Windows service or something like that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

The spooler service is already set to automatic. I've tried to restart the service but it changes nothing.

Two weeks have past but I still can't figure it out. I've tried to uninstall/reinstall all my printers/virtual printers but it makes no improvement.
It really looks like it is not a printer-related issue as I can scan documents with my Lexmark... and I can't print anything from my computer. Weird...
Actually, I suspect Windows to preventing any file to be queued, but the spooler service is always turned on. I don't understand.

I couldn't manage to find any solution while searching the web... It looks like no one had this problem before (I hope not!).

It could be great if anyone could help !

PS: sorry for double posting.

I'm clutching at straws here but there are three services that has to run for operation of the spooler.
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
DCOM Server Process Launcher
RPC Endpoint Mapper

Only what I have read so may or may not be correct
