Printer just stops working

This is driving me crazy.

My printer will work soon after I have restarted my computer but after about 30 minutes it refuses to work. I then have to restart my computer which seems to take forever (at least 15 to 20 minutes) because there always seems to be a whole bunch of updates which need to be downloaded (that seems as awful lot since this happens several times a day).

Then when my computer has restarted it will come up with a little alert telling me that there has been an emergency (or some similar wording) shut down. I acknowledge that and the notice goes away. Then I can use the printer, for the next 30 minutes, anyway.

I hear a "disconnecting"/"reconnecting" noise every now and then and think that maybe my printer connection is faulty or something and this could be the problem.

Please help.

Have you tried plugging it into a different port? Is the printer under warranty? How old is it? If it is under warranty I would contact the manufacturer.

Definately sounds like you have a hardware or software issue especially if it takes 15-20 minutes on reboot. Have you ever manually gone to the windows update site and installed all the updates? If the same updates are trying install over and over again you definately have an issue. It's possible the updates are causing issues with the printer. It may be time for a fresh install of windows.

What operating system are you running and what service pack is installed?

Hi,

Ensure that the cables are properly connected; you need to ensure that your printer is properly connected, and plugged in, and also the cable is accurately connected to the
computer as well.

Check the power; make sure that the printer’s power is switched on, ensure that all the computer necessary computer components are also turned on.

Make sure that the hardware is properly plugged in, and also turned on. Apply troubleshooting.

A troubleshooter is a tool, which is generated automatically and which can easily fix the problems that occur with your system.

Thus, if you are coming across different issues related to your printer, then you can consult the troubleshooter.

You require driver applications to run your hardware devices.

Make sure that the drivers are not outdated, corrupt, or incompatible, resulting in disrupting the communication between the printer and the computer.

Always make sure that you are making use of the most recent and latest device drivers, and also that are compatible with your system requirements and specifications, as this can be extremely useful in resolving printer issues.
