Printer memory 2MB vs. 8MB

Heya guys,

I am considering buying a HP LaserJet 1020 as my replacement for my messed up 1997 Lexmark. Now I am not sure but is the 2MB memory that the printer offers enough because I have noticed that some more expensive printers have 8MB. Will I be able to print everything without the memory becoming a problem?

The memory really only matters if its on a server. If your printing it with just your computer, then the printer will pretty much only use your desktops RAM, just as long as you dont close the program.

You'd be suprised... Maybe now it's more for servers, but my old, OLD laser printers, I actually did run out of memory when trying to print some images. I'm not exactly sure if they store all the page data in memory first then print and inkjets stream it or what...

I beleive 2M would be alright, but I'm really not sure. I do know it depends on what you're printing. Obviously, images will take up more memory than plain text...

True it is good, and some times necessary to have some memory, but for the most part the printer uses your computer RAM instead of using its own. 2MB should be fine for documents and small photos, im not sure about large ones.
