Printer problem

I have a HP Deskjet F380 printer, and recently I get an error message each time the printer is on: something like "the following cartilages are inappropriate for this printer: Black".

This happened since I refilled the black cartilage. Note that I never replaced the cartilage, but only refilled it.

I don't think that it is inappropriate for my printer: the cartilage's size is 21 and the printer's size (for black cartilages) is 21. On the color-side the size is 22 and it works fine...

What could be the problem?

The manufacturers put a chip in their factory filled cartridges to make them talk to the printer. My refills won't allow the printer, a Canon, to display the ink levels, instead I get a warning that my ink is about to run out. This tactic to encourage me to buy genuine cartridges has the opposite effect.Ignore their error messages.I hope I've been of use, I'm new to the seedyworld of p.c's.

Found the problem: the cartilage was somehow wet, not fully dried after refilling and there was a short circuit and the cartilage was damaged. Bought a new one and now it's working.
