Printer Sharing

I have a general question that could be answered .
Scenario
You have a cable connection.
You have printer sharing.
Could you use your printer remotly through like HP's JetDirect TCPIP printing or add a printer using TCPIP.. Would you be able to connect to it throught the internet?

The Jetdirect link to a printer is done with the printer's LAN-IP, so you can't print from the internet using that software. But you could download another program from HP to do that job: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc-JAVA/offweb/vac/us/en/sm/network_software/internet_overview.html

I wonder if you could configure your router to forward print commands from the internet to the correct port to your printer's local IP using IP forwarding would it work?

For example if the printer uses port 9100 to print and has an IP address of 10.10.1.103 if it would work to configure the router to forward all request from the internet on port 9100 to local IP 10.10.1.103.
