Printer Spooler Service diabled, need to enable.

i believe this is why my printers are not able to print , for example in word i want to print but it says there is no printer installed, click on add printer. so i find add printer in control panel and click. i get the message spooler service not runing canot complete task.
so i find the service name in msconfig and it has been disabled. how do i enable it??

in run box type services.msc
find print spooler
right click on it
select properties
select automatic
 
It is automatic already. when i click start i get an error sayin cannot load. I think it is damadged somehow. I was think reinstalling windows using the cd.
 
windows is wierd about self corruption...heck after a fresh install i suddenly lost msconfig for no reason.

heres what i do for almost all windows corruption problems.
i install xp to another partition, then i copy the windows folder and back it up for archival on disk or another partition. then remove that install.

when needed i overwrite the windows folder with my backup....all of my drivers and configurations remain there since those are additions and will remain....when you boot up everything seems to be exactly as it should with everything installed.

this also seems to work as well as an entire fresh install of xp except all the progs and drivers are already installed.

depending on problem it also seems to work if i just overwrite the system and system32 folders.

hope that helps, worth a try if you dont find another solution since from my experience it has no bad side effects doing it this way.
 
Cheers dude, so you are saying that most problems with corruption is with the system32 folder ? Im not to sure with using the zp disk. i have only ever done a fresh install meaning all my updates dissappeared. so how do you just copy over the folder?
 
i'm not sure if overwriting the windows folder saves the windows security updates or not. i never downloaded them. if so your no worse off than if you reinstalled windows over again anyway.

i'm saying many corruptions can be fixed overwriting system and/or system32 folders.
you can try one,the other or both first before overwriting entire windows folder.

first you need a fresh copy of the windows folder. as mentioned i first just installed my xp disk to a seperate partition and kept the windows folder for future use.

when copying in the past i always booted to my second install and from there simply drag windows folder over to C:\ and press yes to overwrite contents.

you can do this in dos mode but i havnt had to yet so i'm not sure of the command. but here is a link to copying in dos.
