Hey guys- having trouble with my parents new printer and new dell pc. Its running 32 vista and it won't install the Canon MP830 multifunction. I have tried everything i know, including following the prompts of when to connect the device, changing the ports manually, testing cables, etc. I have downloaded the most recent driver, and still no luck.

Please help me install this properly! thanks-

Vista driver trouble.... I just had the same problem, I have a network printer on my Dad's computer and I tried connecting to it, I couldn't Vista said I had incorrect drivers. Which says to me,"These aren't Vista drivers." So, same for you, find Vista drivers and update your PC or the 'print server' PC with the newer drivers. You can usually find drivers on the manufacturer's website.

Edit: I just noticed that you said you did try to find new drivers, were they Vista approved?

i feel like an idiot...

Well i solved the problem: I was using a USB 1.0 cable, and it NEEDED to have a USB 2.0 cable to communicate with the printer at a fast enough speed. I purchased a new Belkin 10' USB 2.0 and it was smooth sailing....

Thanks for the help anyways- a good learning lesson, especially if you think you know everything about computers. :)
