Ok i curently have a custom gaming rig that needs updated now.... the new rig im going to build is...

Intel i7 930 2.8GHz, Zalman 9700 Cooler, GTX480, Crucial SSD 65GB, 2 TB Hitachi HDD, 150GB Raptor X HDD, 500GB Seagate HDD, Antec 1200 case, 6GB OCz (triple channel) memory, EVGA X58 Tri-Sli mobo, windows 7 ultimate 64-bit, OCZ 600W P/S, Plextor lightscribe dvd/cd-rw

now heres the thing, the raptor HDD and the seagate are going to come out of my current PC, but, my OS (vista 32-bit) is on the raptor, on my new system i want to install windows onto the solid state drive, HOW do i remove the OS from the raptor and install the new OS onto the SSD without losing any of my information? My music, photos, games, and the main stuff i use is on the seagate, but still have stuff on the raptor i dont wanna lose...
 
im not sure if that will be possible if you copied the contents you may have problem with the bootloader/mbr and bootstrapping the os would then be a problem
maybe if you could image the drive you may have more success but im not sure if it would image the specific bits i metioned above (and more, such as the partitions)

it would be easier to do a fresh install on the ssd and use the other drive as a slave so you can still access your information.
 
I don't know if you are going to have enough room for if you are just using your solid state drive. Why don't you install your operating system on your solid state drive and use your Raptor and Seagate hard drives for other data you can't fit on the primary drive?

If I were you before I would try anything back up all your important data to the Seagate hard drive and then disconnect it from your system. This will prevent you from accidently overwriting important data.
 
are you asking how to only keep the movies, etc. on your current drive and put a clean install of your os on the new ssd?
 
i want windows 7 on the SSD and thats the only thing gonna be on the SSD. My raptor is 150Gb and i have 32gb left, im afraid if i uninstalled vista that some of my programs and things wont work any more once i install windows 7 because they are on separate drives now.... does that makes any sense?
 
oh oh, ok. well, why don't you just reinstall them after you install 7? everything that works with vista is supposed to work with 7, so as long as you install it properly you should be good to go, unless you don't have the installers?
