I just recently reformatted my pc and i tried to activate windows, but it says that the number of times you can activate windows with this product key has been exceeded. I dunno why i am getting this message.

Because you have tried to activate to many times... You don't get unlimited new win xp re-installs...

You usually have to call microsoft and give them a reallly long code and they'll ask you a few questions and then give you back a really long code. Then, all should be good.

I second that... talk to "bob" or "sue"(who just-so-happens to live somewhere in India)

As long as you havent change the computer hardware to much from the original config, and you dont have it on 2 pcs... and your serial key doesnt start with FCKGW

well i dont see why i cant keep reinstalling considering i paid for the software but w/e...so i can just call and eventually be able to activate it?

yes... and it is because bill gates does not have enough money... does not want to loose any profit to pirating (which seems odd, considering he stole from Jobs early on)

Anyone would do it. Who would want their customers to only have to buy one CD for 10 computers when they were supposed to buy 10 CDs?

but i just have it on one PC and besides cant they just track to see if its on more then one PC?

I'm not saying that you are the issue, it is the other people who have Windows installed on a billion different comptuers.

It doesn't take long, maybe 10 minutes.

yeah, now you get to have fun calling Microsoft talking to a machine for 15m and giving them a code that it voice recognizes, just for it to tell you it has to transfer you to a live person, from there its a bit easier.
