Hello all , first time user of this forum. Wonder if anybody at all can help with the following/ or if anyone else has experienced this please respond.
Have windows XP installed on my laptop, only had it 14 months. Went on upgrades section of microsoft website on saturday 6th Aug at approx 16.00 hrs. The site had been updated since the last time I had used this facility and stated that it had to scan the computer to verify the microsoft software before it let us add the jpgrade/search for available upgrades. after this, it came up one available upgrade to do with outlook express. I duly made this upgrade with no problems but since this, have been unablt to reboot the computer.
I have tried everything I can think of to rectify this problem and am now stuck- what next? short of completley wiping the harddisk and starting from scratch (which I am loathed to do) I don't think I can fix this - please help! I have detailed below what I have already done in case this helps anyone......thank-u in advance!
I have managed to start up the laptop in safe mode and run through all the steps inthe help and support section from the start up menu, basically nothing it suggested helped. I alse tried to use the last known good configuration, and went back the last 2 dates to beginning july, (before upgrade made) this also made no difference. and I have unplugged all external hardware in case this was to do with the problem (eg.modem & printer) hence I am emailing from work. Sorry such a long message but wanted to put everything which may help some computer genius out there!
