Problem: ATI Radeon 9600XT 128mb

Computer specs:

Pentium4
1.5ghz
512mb ram

when i play counter-strike 1.6, i don't get more than 60fps

my ATI Radeon 9600XT is a few months old, finally got my friend to reformat my computer and still did not achieve over 100fps on my computer

already know and tried in video settings and counter-strike 1.6 console:

vert sync off
fps_max 500
developer 3

got any ideas? suggestions? :eh?:

Is it stuck at 60fps? Or will it barely reach there?
it's stuck

when i'm at the main windows it tells me i'm getting above 100fps

then i enter a game ... :( <60fps, sometimes drops to 30fps if too many ppl are around or other stuff

i even made my own game and tested out how many fps i would get, still the same

if i look at the sky i'll get 100fps, but that's crap

Wierd how it will lower to 30fps.. Your comp should be able to get 60fps constant since CS 1.6 isn't really a new game.. You could try this command in the console to get higher max fps so it doesn't limit you (type this into console) "fps_max <number>" and see if this will help you out.

you have the same vid card as mine how much did u buy yours for?
160 from best buy - had a sale

shoulda bought it off newegg.com or something different

wish i was more knowledgeable back then :p

you need to tell cs to show more fps it is either fps_max 150 or max_fps 150 (will set the fps to a max of 150). There are also many other tricks to getting higher fps..
Already done :)

Praetor - hey man, how you been :)

currently, i'm using the ATI Radeon Catalyst 5.4 for Windows XP

i tried the original driver and had basically the same results as well

someone suggested a different driver, but i'm not sure if it would work, the driver said it was for ASUS Radeon cards and so forth with the others

could i sitll use those? they said go ahead n dl, but i didn't just to be safe :P
