Problem creating recovery disks

I upgraded to W10 on my older Toshiba laptop. Runs file.
But when I tried to use the app recovery media creator, I got error. Tried two time already, same thing.

Anyone successfully created recovery disks for Win10?

I run "Create Recovery Disk" from Control Panel. It went on to Back up system files into Recovery. About 10 minutes later, it said
We can't create the recovery drive
A problem occurred while creating the recovery drive.

I don't think you can use that now since you had a previous OS before. You will have to use the link Stranglehold linked you to.

Can you explain what you said?
I upgraded from Windows 7 couple of days ago. I want to create a recovery disk just in case.

I'm not sure if the recovery disk program in the control panel will work for you now since you upgraded from windows 7. Download the iso file from the link Stranglehold gave you and will have a windows 10 install dvd to install fresh later on when needed.

I have downloaded the Windows 10 ISO file. But it seems that I'd need a window key to install, according to the writing on MS website.

You can skip during installation, when you sign in with the same MS account then it will activate Windows.

That would be good to know.

Right now, I am trying to image the drive with Macrium v6. It would be a much better option.

I ran Macrium two times, both with error. According to Macrium's forum, error 1117 means some bad sector in the drive. It was suggested that chkdsk c: /r /f would isolate the bad sector and let the imaging complete.

I'll give it a try tonight because the chkdsk operation could take hours.

I'm kind of disappointing that I am still without a restoration mean.

I feel like giving you this expression:

After numerous attempts, I completed the chkdsk function and ran the Macrium image. It was successful. So I have a mirror copy of the post Windows 10 version of the system.

Took a few trial to get the chkdsk working in elevated mode and it ran a long time.
