So i jst finished my newly assembed PC and then booted it to find that The IDE devices arn't detected in bios but when i got to harddirives it will state that theres 2, meaning there being picked up??, but those 2 hdd are on 1 IDE channel on the second IDE channel I have 1 harddrive on master and 1 DVD rom on slave. None detected?? really strange. I don't know what to do i cant instail my os on it without a DVD rom. I do have an old operating system on the a harddrive on the first ide channel(the one set on master) it ll boot up and load windows then after like 20 sec it'll reboot(is this due to wrong drivers since the windows was installed on a completely different system?)

or do i not have enough power or something. SOME PLZ help

When you accidently duplicate a thread simply look for a mod in the section you are in and send a pm. This one will looked after. As far as the system restarts that would be from having been installed on a different system as you assumed already. The large scale hardware changes require a fresh installation not only for XP but for the easrlier 9X-ME, NT versions, and 2000 as well. The earliest 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, 3.11 were simply too GUI on top of dos and lacked hardware detection processes.

When setting a build with two ide hard drives the best way is to have the second slaved to the host or OS drive. You then set the one or more optical drives as master/slave on the secondary ide cable. Later when the Windows or the OS is running you can designate drive letters while the OS is running. Your dvd drive should bet set there as master with the 3rd drive as slave. Optical drives are particular. For the two on the primary you can try setting the slave or both to the cable select position to see this works.

Note try not to start more then one thread on the same subject. http://www.computerforum.com/79105-harddrive-disk-read-error-when-instailing-new-os.html
