Problem Downloading WMP 11

I have WMP 10 but I want WMP 11, I like it a lot better. Everytime I try and download it and click the "verify" button or watever it says, I get this message: "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting." I never got that before. I've downloaded from a number of sites encluding the Microsoft web site (that was my first choice) but got the same thing. I've downloaded it on another computer it it worked fine. What is stopping me from downloading WMP 11?
 
I should be and hope so. I got it from Acer. Appearently, my settings were set to don't upgrade or something like that so thats probaby why it wasnt allowing me to uppgrade. I need to download WMP rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center. I'm downloading that now. I need to download a bunch of stuff (netword framework 1.1 SP1), what next. I just tried to validate WMP 11 rollup 2 (few seconds ago). I'll post if any success.
 
Your copy is llegal by the looks of it,and if you got that on your Acer pc then you should contact Microsoft about it but you must provide some sortof proof that you purchased the laptop with that copy installed on it.

its wierd though that you mention there was no product key on the bottom of your laptop because usualy with prebuilt machines or laptops they are either on the side or underneath.
 
There was a product key when I first got it but I recently had a new hard drive installed and they didn't put a product key on it. I'm guessing that the repair shop called Acer and ordeed a new hard drive (laptop still under warrently) and they jut sent a new hard drive.

I almost had luck installing WMP 11. It told me I had to download .NET Framework and .NET Framework SP1 (weird, I have Windows SP2). I download that then download WMP 11 in the middle of installing it says someting like the install was not sucessful, and something else but too tired to remember. It automatically goes to system restore and starts back up again. I still didn't have any luck. I had just installed a bunch of Microsoft updates and stuff. I dunno why WMP 11 is so ard to get. I had no problem installing it before. New hard drive takes some time gettng used to.

Is it even an Acer hard drive? My old hard drive had the Acer logo blow the computer picture screen when you press the windows key + Pause/Break button, this ard drive dosen't show any logo there. And the Acer toolbar for Windows is gone. I tried downloding it but have sme trouble downloading it. Maks me wonder if Acer gave me re-used hard drive or smething. If they take old hard drive and r build them or something.
