Problem Ghosting HD Systom Sutup

I am using XP Pro and Ghost 2003 .
I follow the procedure to ghost then I arrive at the point where it asks go to CD/rw or DVD. I sellect DVD then proceed and I end up with a partition on the HD with a ghost image in the partition. I then remove the extra partition and contents to recover my full HD.
Wheree am I going wrong.
Do I have to ghost the systom to another HD then burn to a DVD to obtain a bootable Ghost disk.

ive never had issue with it. but i had issues with ghost v10.
