I got xp 64 pro today and I formatted my computer and then went to install the 64 bit windows and for some reason it wont boot from the cd. The boot order is correctly setup to read from the cd first before going to the hdd but again it still refused to read from the cd.

anyone know whats going on?

either it is not bootable or your cd is scratch or your drive has trouble reading the disc :)

and from the look of the specs it doesnt appear that you have a drive to load from :)

Its a copy of the CD I bought 3 months ago, I made a burn of it just incase it got damaged, of which the original cd got a huge scratch right through the middle. I tried contacting MS about seeing if they could replace the CD but since I got it from the uni they refused, and I went back to the uni and they refused as well and we can only get 1 copy per person. So basically I have this copy which contains all the data but Im not sure what exactly its doing, it might be damaged as well seeing as how I just found it today under my bed, but in a CD case.

I know the drives are running fine since I just re-installed XP with my XP cd, so Im not sure whats going on, but if all else fails I guess Ill stick with vanilla XP.

Sounds to me like you didnt burn it exactly correct when it comes to burning those usually they make it really really hard...

screw it, Im just gonna get a friend to buy me another copy and be done with it. For 20 bucks it isnt worth all the effort to get the burnt copy to work.
