Hey guys,

so roughly one week ago I downgraded my system from Vista to XP due to feeling the computer was slowing down etc. However, after I installed XP a few days latter I have been having my computer freeze randomly while I am using it. No blue screen of death, just everything stops working and i have to restart... My fear is that my PSU is not powerful enough... If thats the case I was wondering what do you guys recommend. Also I thought it may have to do with the 2 new HDs as one is currently being partitioned partially for the OS system...

Well anyways, Along with the downgrade I also freshly put in 2 more Hard drives. My specs are:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
7x Western Digital (750 GB)
1x Samsung (500 GB)
ATI Radeon X 700 Pro
4x 256 MB of Ram (2 GB)
Power supply: Xclio 460 Watt

Any and all help would be greatly appericated. Much Thanks!

when you installed Xp did you do a clean format and install? and when windows was installed have you install your motherboard chipset drivers + graphics card drivers etc?

Edit,in your sig you have 4x 256 MB of Ram (2 GB), by my calculations 4x 256mb sticks = 1024 ? I think you have 1Gb not 2?

You could be right about the drivers here. It sounds like something in his system is not "talking" the same language as something else in the system.

It could be the PSU too. Try going to a 550 or 600 watt PSU just to be safe.

it could be his psu because according to his specs he has 7 hard drives :P

XP was a clean installation on one of the new HD I just got in that day. I did install the motherboard drivers.. I believe I did the graphic cards as well but to double check ill go over that again..

Also i mistakenly wrote 256... I meant to say 4x 512 sticks for the 2 GB of RAM.

Actually Have 8, on the next line i seperated the one samsung HD I have lol...

unplug all the drives and just run off the windows one and see if it still randomly freezes.

if it doesnt then you know ;)
