Problem playing games :(

Hi guys!
So basically, I have pretty much had my AMD Phenom II Black Edition Multi-Core processor for 3 years, and i have always had it on 4 cores instead of 2. It has done me great through 3 years, but recently, I have had some problems playing games such as Black Ops 2 or Lego Lord Of The Rings or pretty much any other good looking game for that matter. Basically, on 4 cores, i am able to play the game perfectly for about 10 minutes then all of a sudden my screen goes black and puts me straight back to my desktop. It then comes up with an error in the bottom right of my screen reading "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver AMD driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered." I then tried putting my Processor down to 3 cores. Same problem. I put it on 2 cores and it runs but it runs terrible, no where near as good as 4 cores :( Some things that i have tried to fix it are:

Malwarebytes Full scan
AVG Full scan
CC Cleaner (Cleaning my registry out)
Deleting all of my games and re installing them

My PC specs are =
AMD Phenom II Black Edition (Clocked to AMD Phenom II X4 B55 Processor)
Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2GB OC edition
8GB (2x4gb) G Skill Rip Jaw ram
Asus M5A78L-MLX3
500W PSU
Barracuda 500GB Hard Drive

Any help would be much appreciated :-)

It's a problem with your video card or video drivers, as it says right in the error "display driver stopped responding", so it's not because of how many cores your computer is utilizing.

Is your video card overclocked? Open up your PC and clean out the heatsink and fan, then try redownloading the drivers from ATI's website.

Yeah that's a video card problem. Clean out computer of dust. Reinstall video card drivers. Also make sure your temperatures are okay. Use HWMonitor to check them if you don't have any other software to do it.

+1 for cleaning out dust. It may be unstable as a result of higher temperatures.

Also you could give a driver update a shot. If you're still using a really old driver set there have been some gains on GCN based GPUs like yours and you should get a noticeable gain in performance.
