Problem playing region 1 & 2

Hi,

Is it possible that when you watch dvd's (region 1 & 2 and free regions) on your pc that after so many times of changing regions, a program like PowerDVD can freeze your drive to just play 1 region?

Cos I think that has happened to mine, it will only play region free dvd's and not region 1 or 2!

If this is the case, is there anyway, other that formatting the pc, to open the drive so it will play all regions again?

Cheerz :D

Hmmm

You can download a program from your manufacturer to reset the changes (usually can be done 5 times). However, after those changes, then you would need to go to the manufacturer to have it reset.

JAN :D

Thanx Jan, I have a Tiny laptop and I don't know the manufacturer of the dvd-rw drive that's the laptop

If I formatted the laptop, would that also reset the changes?

I can only play copies now (region free) and I'm in the middle of watching season 3 of babylon 5! lol

Jan, is there a program out there whereby you can freely watch any region dvd without restriction?

No, there is no program to use, the data about what region the drive can display and how many times it has been changed is stored in a ROM chip inside the actual drive, the only way to reset it is to "flash" it using the manufacturers tool.

Hi dragon,

as I said above, the drive is in a tiny laptop and I don't know the manufacturer of the drive

The dvd x player hasn't worked, it's still not playing r2, so I'll download and try the other player, thanx again Jan.

It's still not working and I've tried both programs, when I go into dvd region + css free and click on dvd info a pop up box says:

The drive d:\ has regon protection.
Drive region code: 2
User changes left: 2
Vendor resets left: 4

Any ideas?

Sorry about all these posts but power dvd comes up with a pop up:
No disc is drive d: when there is actually a region 2 disc in there.

Well, i would say for you to contact sony but their after sales help is a load of crap, you can try there website help form but all you ever get is an auotomated response. Try and phone them, or even better, go through tiny, ring their customer service and have a chat...

how about real player as a dvd player,
i dont think its region specific.
And IMO i think the concept of free and paid regions is highly stupid!
