Hey i just bought a new computer...and im not sure whats causing this but whenever i go to shutdown it will either shut down normally or not shut down at all...and then i read somewhere that you gotta turn off your welcome screen so i did...and it worked fine for a while...and now its doing it again...do i have too many programs open on start up or something? what could be causing this? i have no other problems...I have recently installed adobe cs2 and adobe premiere...those considered heavy programs? any suggestions welcome...thanks in advance

Well currently i dont have access to my computer as i am at home trying to kill time during spring break but my specs are:

HP AMD Athlon 3700+
1GB RAM (Sorry Don't Know Brand...Whatever Came With It)
200 GB HDD (Came With Computer)
80 GB HDD (Put In From My Old Compaq)
Lightscribe CD/DVD RW
ATI 256MB Shared
Windows XP Media Center Edition

Thats all i remember...and I usually wait around 3 or 4 minutes for it to shutdown..if it doesnt...i just push n hold the button...sometimes it does it sometimes it doesnt...more often than not it does it...thanks again

My thoughts exactly...

Steps to repair a computer
1. Pull out all the spyware years of using IE and OE without antivirus or antispyware have nested in the computer...

True. I'd recommend Spybot (free) or Spy Doctor (not free) first, though. Windows Defender is still in beta and needs to be. I recommend that (if you use IE as your primary browser), you jump to IE7b2. It'll help keep what's out out from now on.

i use firefox mainly..but i use explorer whenever i check hotmail..and for some reason it wont let me do flash in firefox thats when i have to use explorer too...
