problem starting up my computer

Check all your cable connections, ensure that your bootable drive is set to Master and the second drive on the same cable is Slave.
Make sure that the red line on the drive ribbon cable is plugged in on the side closest to the power connector, and that the red line is on the side with pin 1 or two on the motherboard IDE connector (sometimes this will be identified with a triangle).
