Problem with 1080p with PC+TV

Ok so when ever I switch my res on my PC to 1920x1080 it looks weird. It also recognizes it as 1080i and not 1080p which doesn't make sense because both my xbox 360 and my blu-ray player sees it as 1080p. I thought it was just because of the VGA cable I was using so I went and bought another HDMI cable it's better as nothing is off the screen but I don't think it should look like this. I hooked up my other monitor that is 1080P and it looks perfect so what could be the issue with the TV?

Here is a few screen shots to show you what I mean. I know everything is supposed to be smaller that doesn't bother me but it smashed in like there is a wall closing down from the sides and top.






Any ideas? I use to never care about this but my friend has a blu-ray drive he will sell me for $20 and I wont to buy it. Although if I can't get my computer to do 1080i/p correctly there is no use in me getting it.

Open your GPU's control panel. Go to resolution settings and make sure that you have chosen (HD) and not (SD).

HD, Best setting for HDTV's
SD, Not recommended
PC, Works best for monitors

Edit: Could you post a screenshot of your control panel's settings (whether it is Nvidia or ATi).. do not use the default in windows.

I wish it was that easy but there is nothing like that in CCC.
 
I'm rather confused as to what the images are supposed to show. Were they downsized any? Because they are essentially 720p. Aside from that, it looks the same as what my 1080p monitor displays.

So your other devices show as 1080p on the TV (it registers on the TV as 1080p?)

Yea they where downsized I forgot to uncheck the box when I uploaded them.
Now that I restarted my PC its says it's on 1080p instead of 1080i so thats fixed. What is bugging me is that at the bottom of my screen there is a space between the taskbar and the bottom and I don't know why. Everything else seems to be OK now that I updated my drivers. Still though something isn't right but I can't pinpoint what it is. Its like nothing is proportional anymore, if that makes any sense.
 
What's the screen you're using? Is it that Polaroid? I know they're not know for having the best screens around. But I'm also curious as to what the screen's native resolution is and all. I know my lil LCD TV is supposed to be 1440x900, but I've yet to find anyone who's been able to get anything besides basic 720p to display :P

Yea its the one in my sig. Its 1366x768 which is weird because at the res everything is off screen even with VGA and DVI. I am ready to give up, there isn't anything I can do.
 
Yea I was reading something slimier earlier about that. Looks like thats what it is. I guess there is nothing I can do for now. I might get the drive anyways for $20 it can't hurt.
