problem with audio conversion

Hi. im new here and so, i do not really know where to put this question. i hope this section is appropriate enough. anyway, i have serious problem when it comes to audio conversion. i download many audio converter and try them all but to no avail. i would add audio files to the to-be-converted list. but no matter which software i use, it would say all files are converted the moment i press convert. of course, no file was converted. does any1 know what cause this problem? by the way, im using windows XP SP2. thank you
 
converting fom what to what ? you didn't give details ?
and make sure you are not converting protecting content like WMA as we wont assist you here,

well, i convert from .mp3 to mp3. i do so to reduce the bit rate. i specify the directory which the file should be placed in. the thing is, the software is not able to convert at all. like i said, it would report that the conversion is done but no file is converted. i suppose there is a problem with my computer, not the softwares as they were able to convert audio before. some of the softwares i use are Blaze Media Pro, SC audio converter...etc
