Problem with computer, sneaky suspicion its the processor

lol i would not bother doing another scan disk if thats what your doing, i just meant take the old disc out to see if its causing an issue as you said its quite old. you need to download CPU-z and tell us the exact mobo model then we can point you in the right direction as to drivers. Also i need to know what version bios version you have, to see if there has been any updates that may fix an issue such as this, that needs updating!

ok here's the ID, (the BIOS number was included in that, presume thats normal for all different programs that read ur system?)
Motherboard ID: 63-141-0000010-00101111-072007-VIA$4CDS2141_4COREDUAL-SATA2 BIOS P1.50

that bios is fine its just there is a fix for the ati2xxx series cards it was a long shot but you already have the updated bios.

ok, well the link i gave you seems to be correct so as oscaryu1 said it seems like your sata controlers are not being detected some how. so i would suggest a fault there; my only suggestion at this point is to post a ticket at asrock itself (http://www.asrock.com/support/TSD.asp) to see it there boffins know anything about your issue.
I rekon it could be three things at this point; the sata/chipset controler itself, a bad sata/chipset driver or your disks are set up incorrectly in the bios.

unless anyone else has anything to add im stuck, without the machine infront of me.
