problem with DSL, packets?

I've been having problems with my DSL lately, I have a netgear WTG624 router and i use a wireless adapter to connect to the internet. for some reason, 2 weeks ago, i suddenly got disconnected from the internet and couldn't get back on. everything looked fine like on the program it said "connected to router" and my connection status was "excellent". but i couldnt connect to anything (like AIM, MSN, couldnt go on sites) the only problem that i saw was that it wasnt receiving packets that were sent..and the packets were sending slowly too. can anyone tell me whats going on?

Is this the only system on your router ?
are any other systems able to access the internet ?

yes, my laptop is the only system on the router. nobody else can access my router.

Is the modem setup for bridge ethernet.

Dsl modem default settings is PPPoE connection, this will sometimes not work very good with a router. instead you need to set your router on PPPoE and the modem on bridged ethernet.
