Problem with dvd burner

Hello,

I had a problem with my pc about 2 weeks ago that didn't result in me reformatting but repairing xp. The problem is I cannot get my dvd burner to burn past 2x. I will burn between 1.1 and 1.3. Before this problem I could burn at nearly 15x. I use dvd decrypter as my software for burning. In the option box I have messed around with the different speeds but everyone of them has done the same low speed. I have checked my device manager and it says all of my drivers are updated to the fullest. I have a P4 2.66, 512 mb ram. 120g hd, Videomate Tuner, dvdrw, cdrw, dvdrom, nividia geforce fx 5500. Everything worked fine until I had this problem. Any suggestion would be great. Thanks for your time Stewart

is the disk u are trying to burn onto limiting the speed maybe? maybe this is the max speed of the disk. worth a look.....

these disks are the same disks that I was using previously to the problem I have had. I have burnt these discs and they have worked flawlessly so I am do not think that is the problem but thanks anyways

I am using +. I have never even tryed using - since it has always worked that well. That maybe be a possibility. How may I check that out in dvd decrypter or the properties of my burner?

maybe reinstall the burning software and see if that helps. a program file may have been corrupted during the repair to windows.

1. what type disc are burning? data? video? music?
2. what type of media are you burning to? CDrw? CDr? DVD? DVDrw etc?
3. what make/model of burner do you have? use Nero infotools from QUESTIONS 101 to find out.
4. What application are you using?
