Problem with FPS (in games)

Hey!

I'm having issue with my FPS when playing games. My FPS drops from over 60 to under 10 and it stays there for about 5-15 seconds. Same issue doesn't appear when doing something else than playing games. Is anybody else having the same problem? does anybody know what could be wrong?

Please answer asap!

Need to post what game you're playing and what your system specs are before we can help.

Games I'm playing are Battlefield Heroes and Battlefield Play4Free and Shootmania Storm/Trackmania.
Specs : AMD Athlon Dual 4850e, RAM 4GB, Windows Vista 32Bit SP2, Ati Radeon HD 4800Series

I know these are not the best, but as I said I still have good FPS on those games.
Then that problem came about month ago and that since playing have been kinda annoying... (BTW. the lag comes every 5-10 minutes)

What's your power supply and how are you cooling your CPU and graphics card? Is anything getting hot? You can download GPU Temp to find out the temperature of your GPU and something like SpeedFan will tell you the temperature of your CPU.

Is anything overclocked?

Yeah just a bit hot!

OK, take it outside, spray some air into it (you can get air dusters very cheaply, look on Amazon) and then wave the dust bunnies goodbye. Assuming dust is the cause of the heat.

One thing to note about air dusters though is that before you spray it at anything, you want to spray it away first and make sure no moisture is coming out of the can.

Damn that's really hot. Blast it out with air using a can or an air compressor. Blast out the fans on both parts as well as the whole case. Get all that dust out of there. Make sure your fans aren't jammed either and are still working correctly.

So your games are running better now?

Your temperatures are massively reduced. Did you just dust it out?
