problem with graphics

Hi guys. i have an annoying problem. i cant update my graphics driver(standart vga graphics adapter). i get a black screen. any ideas whats going on?
asus en8500gt 512mb
AMD athlon x64
win vista 64bit

What do you mean you "can't" update your graphics driver? What have you tried?

If you haven't already, go to the nvidia driver download page http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7_winvista_64bit_196.21_whql.html for your card and OS.

PS: It's probably not said often (because it should be a given) but computer problems can get pretty complicated so don't shy away from giving a lot of detail of your situation.

i tried it. i have already tried older versions. i tried to install win 7, but because of this, i get a black screen at completing. maybe its the card itself?
