Problem with logging in...

We have a problem with one of our computers in our department...

The line manager needs to access documents stored on the receptionist's PC, however, it cannot get past the boot up stage.

Can anybody offer me some advice on what the problem may be and how it can be resolved?

Many thanks,

Uhm... first of all why don't you open up the PC, have a look inside making sure everything is connected. The problem may be a disconnected or faulty piece of internal hardware.

One you know everything is connected correctly (including things like mouse and keyboard) you may need to have a quick look in the BIOS settings making sure that all the boot up settings are correct.

Finally, if none of the above works, you may have to recover the documents. To do this, remove the hard drive from the receptionist's PC, install it as a secondary drive in another, working, PC and back up all the files. From then on you should be able to replace the receptionist's hard drive and troubleshoot the hardware for any errors.

Hope this helps!! And good luck, Bobble.

Thanks Computer Forum

The above message is just a dummy. No need to read or reply. Its for an assignment for my college course and I've no need for advice.

Sorry about using Computer Forum like some kind of man whore would use a girl on a friday night; getting what I want and then ditching her afterwards. Thats not my style but a much needed grade was hanging in the balance.

Thanks again,
