Problem with monitor

Hi all. I'm having a problem with my monitor and I really need to fix it as soon as possible, please help me!!
That's whats happenning: every time I turn the PC on, after the BIOS screens there is the Windows XP loading screen, then the monitor do a crack, a sharp noise or something, then the welcome screen appears and finally I'm on the desktop. But around 2 days ago, the monitor was unplugged from the CPU (for non-technical reasons, I mean, there wasn't any problem at all), and I didn't really pay attention to where it was plugged before, because it wasn't me that unplugged it. Later, I plugged the monitor back on the CPU where I guessed it shold be, and it worked. After I shut down the PC, I unplugged the monitor again, but this time I knew where to plug it next time. And indeed, I plugged it once more to use the computer, and unplugged when I was finished. But then the person who unplugged it the first time wanted to use the PC, and plugged the monitor on another port, and it didn't work. When I came to help, I just plugged it on the right place and it seemed to work, but after the sharp noise thing after the Windows XP loading screen, the screen becomes black and nothing happens (though the CPU is still working and I'm on the desktop, I just can't see anything). Now, no matter what I do, the monitor do not work after the loading screen, and I REALLY need to fix this.

By the way, thanks for your time and sorry for the long explanation, it's just that I don't really know whats happenning and how to explain it, so I just said everything. Also sorry for the lots of "plugged" and "unplugged", that seems annoying. xD

Hi. Are you sure that the monitor is plugged in correctly? Since this problem has been persisting a long time, I think that it is a problem with your graphics card(just a hunch). Maybe the monitor has a loose connection.

Please look into this.

Well it seems properly connected, and this problem only started after the monitor was plugged on another port. Could this be the cause? Maybe it did something to my video card... because I do not see any problem with connection.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. What other port did you connect your Monitor to?
Well, it certainly looks as if your video card has been damaged(according to me, and I could be wrong).
Do you have a spare video card? If so, then put that in and plug in your monitor.
Or else, you will have to buy a new one.

The monitor was connected to another monitor port or similar (at least it fitted in perfectly, so I think it was another monitor port). I do not have any spare video card other than the one I'm using in this computer now (my 2nd computer). I didn't really think connecting the monitor to another port could damage the video card. Ah! The port in that the monitor works until the loading screen appears doesn't have any specifications near it, but the other port where it doesn't work and seems to be the wrong one has a monitor icon near it, as well as an icon that looks like a rectangle with two circles in it and a 2 on the top. Near this port there is another one (that isn't smiliar to this one) with an icon exactly like that, only with a 1 on the top.

Edit: the icon looks somewhat like this: "http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/600/conefr3.png"

Those are mostly monitor expansion ports(correct me if I'm wrong). Why don't you just plug your monitor back to where it originally was?

Well I did that, but it doesn't work. Again, the BIOS appears fully, the loading screen also, but then the image disappears.
